Use the following instructions to enable use of Lao Unicode fonts in Mail,
Safari, TextEdit and other Mac applications.
- Download the disk image
LaoScriptOnMac containing the keyboard and font files and full instructions
for use.
- Open the disk image, then open the Fonts folder. Then double-click
each font to open it in Font Book and click the
Install Font button.
- Open the Keyboard Layouts folder in the disk image, and copy both files
into /Library/Keyboard Layouts. (From the Finder menu,
choose Go, Go to Folder…, and enter /Library/Keyboard Layouts,
then drag the files into the open folder.)
- If using OS X (Tiger) you may need to log out and log back in
again to make the installed keyboard available in System Preferences.
- Go to System Preferences - International - Input Menu and scroll
down to find LaoSTEA, and tick the check box next to it.
Also tick the check box labelled Show input menu in menu bar.
Your Lao keyboard and font (Saysettha MX) will now be ready for use
in applications. Simply choose a Lao font and select the Lao flag in the
menu bar to enable the Lao keyboard.
Additional Lao Unicode fonts are available for free download from
Lao Script for Windows Downloads and from other websites.
